About Remote Code Execution & Arbitrary File Reading – Apache HTTP Server (CVE-2024-38475) vulnerability

About Remote Code Execution & Arbitrary File Reading – Apache HTTP Server (CVE-2024-38475) vulnerability. Improper escaping of output in mod_rewrite module leads to remote code execution or arbitrary file reading. Successful exploitation does not require authentication. 🔻 Apache HTTP Server 2.4.60, which includes a fix for this vulnerability, was released on July 1, 2024. Orange […]

GHSA-53wx-pr6q-m3j5: Apache Parquet Java: Potential malicious code execution from trusted packages in the parquet-avro module when reading an Avro schema from a Parquet file metadata

Schema parsing in the parquet-avro module of Apache Parquet 1.15.0 and previous versions allows bad actors to execute arbitrary code. While 1.15.1 introduced a fix to restrict untrusted packages, the default setting of trusted packages still allows malicious classes from these packages to be executed. The exploit is only applicable if the client code of parquet-avro uses the "specific" or the "reflect" models deliberately for reading Parquet files. ("generic" model is not impacted) Users are recommended to upgrade to 1.15.2 or set the system property "org.apache.parquet.avro.SERIALIZABLE_PACKAGES" to an empty string on 1.15.1. Both are sufficient to fix the issue.

GHSA-3p2h-wqq4-wf4h: Apache Tomcat Denial of Service via invalid HTTP priority header

Improper Input Validation vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. Incorrect error handling for some invalid HTTP priority headers resulted in incomplete clean-up of the failed request which created a memory leak. A large number of such requests could trigger an OutOfMemoryException resulting in a denial of service. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 9.0.76 through 9.0.102, from 10.1.10 through 10.1.39, from 11.0.0-M2 through 11.0.5. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 9.0.104, 10.1.40 or 11.0.6 which fix the issue.

GHSA-ff77-26x5-69cr: Apache Tomcat Rewrite rule bypass

Improper Neutralization of Escape, Meta, or Control Sequences vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. For a subset of unlikely rewrite rule configurations, it was possible for a specially crafted request to bypass some rewrite rules. If those rewrite rules effectively enforced security constraints, those constraints could be bypassed. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.5, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.39, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.102. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 9.0.104, 10.1.40 or 11.0.6, which fix the issue.

GHSA-73m2-qfq3-56cx: Apache HttpClient disables domain checks

A bug in PSL validation logic in Apache HttpClient 5.4.x disables domain checks, affecting cookie management and host name verification. Discovered by the Apache HttpClient team. Fixed in the 5.4.3 release.

GHSA-f69v-xrj8-rhxf: org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server allows SQL injection in query endpoint of REST API

### Impact It is possible for a remote unauthenticated user to escape from the HQL execution context and perform a blind SQL injection to execute arbitrary SQL statements on the database backend, including when "Prevent unregistered users from viewing pages, regardless of the page rights" and "Prevent unregistered users from editing pages, regardless of the page rights" options are enabled. Depending on the used database backend, the attacker may be able to not only obtain confidential information such as password hashes from the database, but also execute UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE queries. The vulnerability may be tested in a default installation of XWIki Standard Flavor, including using the official Docker containers. An example query, which leads to SQL injection with MySQL/MariaDB backend is shown below: ``` time curl "http://127.0.0.1:8080/rest/wikis/xwiki/query?q=where%20doc.name=length('a')*org.apache.logging.log4j.util.Chars.SPACE%20or%201%3C%3E%271%5C%27%27%20union%20select%20...

GCP Cloud Composer Bug Let Attackers Elevate Access via Malicious PyPI Packages

Cybersecurity researchers have detailed a now-patched vulnerability in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that could have enabled an attacker to elevate their privileges in the Cloud Composer workflow orchestration service that's based on Apache Airflow. "This vulnerability lets attackers with edit permissions in Cloud Composer to escalate their access to the default Cloud Build service account, which
