GHSA-v7gr-mqpj-wwh3: CometVisu Backend for openHAB affected by SSRF/XSS

The [proxy endpoint](https://github.com/openhab/openhab-webui/blob/1c03c60f84388b9d7da0231df2d4ebb1e17d3fcf/bundles/org.openhab.ui.cometvisu/src/main/java/org/openhab/ui/cometvisu/internal/backend/rest/ProxyResource.java#L83) of openHAB's CometVisu add-on can be accessed without authentication. This proxy-feature can be exploited as Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) to induce GET HTTP requests to internal-only servers, in case openHAB is exposed in a non-private network. Furthermore, this proxy-feature can also be exploited as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability, as an attacker is able to re-route a request to their server and return a page with malicious JavaScript code. Since the browser receives this data directly from the openHAB CometVisu UI, this JavaScript code will be executed with the origin of the CometVisu UI. This allows an attacker to exploit call endpoints on an openHAB server even if the openHAB server is located in a private network. (e.g. by sending an openHAB...

Microsoft Reveals Four OpenVPN Flaws Leading to Potential RCE and LPE

Microsoft on Thursday disclosed four medium-severity security flaws in the open-source OpenVPN software that could be chained to achieve remote code execution (RCE) and local privilege escalation (LPE). "This attack chain could enable attackers to gain full control over targeted endpoints, potentially resulting in data breaches, system compromise, and unauthorized access to sensitive information

New Flaws in Sonos Smart Speakers Allow Hackers to Eavesdrop on Users

Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered weaknesses in Sonos smart speakers that could be exploited by malicious actors to clandestinely eavesdrop on users. The vulnerabilities "led to an entire break in the security of Sonos's secure boot process across a wide range of devices and remotely being able to compromise several devices over the air," NCC Group security researchers Alex Plaskett and

How to Weaponize Microsoft Copilot for Cyberattackers

At Black Hat USA, security researcher Michael Bargury released a "LOLCopilot" ethical hacking module to demonstrate how attackers can exploit Microsoft Copilot — and offered advice for defensive tooling.

'0.0.0.0 Day' Flaw Puts Chrome, Firefox, Mozilla Browsers at RCE Risk

Attackers can use a seemingly innocuous IP address to exploit localhost APIs to conduct a range of malicious activity, including unauthorized access to user data and the delivery of malware.

Journyx 11.5.4 Authenticated Remote Code Execution

Journyx version 11.5.4 has an issue where attackers with a valid username and password can exploit a python code injection vulnerability during the natural login flow.

Apache log4j2 Code Execution

Log4j 2.15.0 was released to address the widely reported JNDI Remote Code Execution (RCE) (CVE-2021-44228) vulnerability in Log4j. Shortly thereafter, 2.16.0 was released to address a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability (CVE-2021-45046). When examining the 2.15.0 release, Google security engineers found several issues with the Log4j 2.15.0 patch that showed that the severity of the issue addressed in 2.16 was in fact worse than initially understood. This is Google's proof of concept exploit.

0.0.0.0 Day: 18-Year-Old Browser Vulnerability Impacts MacOS and Linux Devices

Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a new "0.0.0.0 Day" impacting all major web browsers that malicious websites could take advantage of to breach local networks. The critical vulnerability "exposes a fundamental flaw in how browsers handle network requests, potentially granting malicious actors access to sensitive services running on local devices," Oligo Security researcher Avi Lumelsky

Critical AWS Vulnerabilities Allow S3 Attack Bonanza

Researchers at Aqua Security discovered the "Shadow Resource" attack vector and the "Bucket Monopoly" problem, where threat actors can guess the name of S3 buckets based on their public account IDs.

CVE-2024-38219: Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

**According to the CVSS metrics, successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to minor loss of confidentiality (C:L), integrity (I:L) and availability (A:L). What does that mean for this vulnerability?** While we cannot rule out the impact to Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability, the ability to exploit this vulnerability by itself is limited. An attacker would need to combine this with other vulnerabilities to perform an attack.
